As Sprouts Farmers Market continued its rapid expansion, the company needed a partner capable of delivering customized front-end merchandising fixtures at scale—without sacrificing quality or speed. Leveraging its U.S.-based manufacturing capabilities, engineering expertise, and project management experience, LSI designed, manufactured, and deployed more than 1,200 custom fixtures across 350 stores in just five months. The result was a faster rollout, greater flexibility, and an enhanced checkout experience that supported increased impulse purchases.
When Sprouts Farmers Market set out to modernize its checkout environments, the company needed a partner capable of executing a large-scale rollout while accommodating the unique layout of each store. LSI delivered a customized solution by designing and manufacturing more than 60 unique fixture variations to support over 350 locations. Backed by domestic manufacturing, collaborative project management, and responsive engineering, LSI completed the rollout in approximately half the time typically expected for a project of this size. The result was a streamlined execution that reduced lead times, maintained quality, and created engaging checkout environments designed to drive additional sales and improve the customer experience.
Sprouts Farmers Market is a chain of health-conscious grocery stores that has grown to include hundreds of locations across 24 states. The market is known for providing options for a wide range of diets with farm-fresh produce, organic foods and healthy snacks.
As Sprouts continues to grow, they knew they needed to improve their front-end merchandisers to present more products that customers want to buy as they go through checkout lanes.
“I knew sitting and really looking inward at who our partners are and who could make this come to life was going to be really critically important,” said Steve Lamontagne, Vice President of Store Optimization at Sprouts.
With positive customer feedback on enhanced front-end merchandisers, Sprouts needed quick renovations that didn’t sacrifice quality or performance. They needed a flexible American manufacturer that could keep up with high demand without long lead times.
“The customer reaction (to front-end merchandisers) was so positive that literally the CEO looked at me and said, ‘Why wait? This is a no-brainer. Why can’t we go more quickly?'” Lamontagne said.

LSI Retail Environments custom designed and executed 1,200+ front-end merchandising fixtures across 350 Sprouts locations.
“We love to go into projects that have a lot of tentacles to them, a lot of different changing requirements through the project, and they need to go fast, and it’s got to be scalable,” said Nelson Wesley, President of LSI Retail Environments. “That’s where we excel, and not only is it where we excel, that’s what we love.”
Over the short five-month span of the project, LSI had the capability to design and manufacture over 60 different fixture designs to account for unique layouts in each store environment.
Despite domestic supply chain disruptions during the project, LSI kept lead times short with U.S.-based manufacturing facilities that promoted flexibility and urgency to keep projects moving.
“If I think about LSI, one of the reasons that we chose them is they are an American manufacturing company,” Lamontagne said. “That momentum and driving that level of partnership all the way through from design through execution is, I think, part of the success of why this happened.”
As an American manufacturer, LSI was able to provide custom, high-performance front-end fixtures that drove customers to make additional checkout stand purchases. Because LSI provided short lead times for quality products, they were able to put more work into making custom fixtures that fit the layout of every Sprouts location.
“Normally, a program like this, a 350-store rollout, would probably have taken 10 to 12 months,” Lamontagne said. “We’re going to do it in half that time.”
As a trusted partner to Sprouts, LSI created a cohesive customer environment to boost sales in each store.
“You can come to LSI, you can partner with us,” Wesley said. “We got you.”
