- High-Efficacy Lighting: All installed lighting must meet minimum efficacy standards anywhere between 65 and 100 (lumens per watt). This generally means using advanced LED technology to maximize output while minimizing energy use.
- Automatic Controls: Residential and commercial buildings must include features such as motion sensors, vacancy sensors, time-based shutoff, and daylight harvesting systems to ensure lights are only used when needed.

- Outdoor Lighting: Fixtures must include photocell and motion sensor technology and must emit no unnecessary uplight to reduce light pollution and energy waste.
